Cheiron, who was the wisest of the Greek centaurs. A teacher and a healer, Cheiron was tutor to both Achilles and Jason. Apart from his obvious connection with teaching and healing, Cheiron admirably illustrates the dual application of the McTimoney technique to both humans and animals. The Latin motto, In Manu Vis Medendi, means 'in the hands is the power of healing'.

What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

McTimoney Chiropractic is a method of adjusting through the use of low-force high speed adjustments.  The key to its success is the speed, skill and precision with which the adjustments are performed. The whole skeleton is assessed during treatment, the joints and bones of the skull, spine, pelvis, arms and legs are checked and adjusted (if necessary). This is because problems or misalignments in one area of the body can cause compensations elsewhere – this way all areas are corrected at once, potentially preventing future problems.

As an example, misalignment of the pelvis will affect weight distribution through the legs potentially causing hip, knee or foot pain.  Additionally the alignment of the pelvis will affect the articulations of the lumbar (lower back) vertebrae thereby affect function and creating compensations throughout the spine. This can mean that untreated misalignments in the pelvis can ultimately result in upper back or neck pain.
